Feminism and Social Cognitive Theories Essay

The objective in this individual task is to apply the social intellectual hypothesis and women's activist speculations to contemporary media content and to look into changed hypothetical viewpoints. Connected to this paper there will be a print commercial explicitly picked to break down how and whom these hypotheses think about in new media today. In the wake of breaking down the two points of view, the speculations will be thoroughly analyzed, indicating the likenesses and contrasts among them and their way to deal with the commercial. All through the paper the use of models from the particular advert picked will close to the machine and characterized terms to help the contentions that will be discussed. The social learning hypothesis outfits a system that permits usto break down the human’s mental capacities that produce certain practices (A. Bandura, 1986). The idea depicts the psychological procedures at work at whatever point an individual learns (Bandura, 1944). The hypothesis of socialization clarifies people thought and the individual factors that make learning a psychological procedure to all specialists, for example, social gatherings, guardians and kin, instructors, schools and strict pioneers, neighborhoods and media.(Eyal, 2012)According to Bandura, the theoryproves that conviction and conduct are controlled by three unique factors that collaborate and sway one another, known as the triadic complementary causation, inspecting conduct, individual determinants and attributes, for example, intellectual and natural characteristics like age, race, sex or stature, and ecological elements or occasions (Bandura, 1944). Bandura’s social intellectual hypothesis of mass correspondence and the more extensive social learning hypothesis fill in as the establishment for volumes of exploration in every aspect of media impacts concentrate today (A. Bandura, 1986). An investigation of this hypothesis introducing the way toward displaying has bee n led by Albert Bandura during the investigation of the bobo dolls by including the four segment forms: consideration, maintenance, engine proliferation, and inspiration. Later to be talked about in pertinence to the ad chosen.Proving that an individual that watches different people groups activities and the results of those activities can gain from what they have watched, called observational realizing, which at that point can be reenacted by the onlooker, known as displaying (A. Bandura, 1986). As per the examination done in the bobo doll considers, Bandura’s strategy was to make a lab try different things with kindergarten kids, by presenting them to various forms of films with animosities toward a bobo doll. Concentrating on the youngsters in the test gatherings, these kids knew about what they have viewed and this is the place the displaying procedure starts. Consideration has been raised. The exploratory gathering youngsters sat and thoroughly considered the film alsopossessing the fundamental segments and aptitude, while maybe thinking about their capacities and self-viability perceptions, known as engine proliferation as far as the proce dure. So as to later mimic the forceful demonstrations, preparing what they’ve cognitivelylearnt and seen, known as maintenance, practicing of the demonstration so as to appropriately ridicule the material uncovered. In end to the observational hypothesis, youngsters appeared to be persuaded to display the practices they learnt in the film. Kids who had viewed the vicious film were less restrained about performing other rough acts they had learnt before, and not depicted through the given film. The film in this way, had a disinhibitory impact upon the kids who saw it (Bandura, 1963). â€Å"Disinhibitory impacts disinhibit or lift recently learned inside limitations on specific practices (Bandura, 1963 p.73) as clarified in the investigation Bandura conduced on the school kids and the reality they utilized the viciousness found in the film, and not brutality that has been appeared to them for the duration of their lives. Furthermore, the hypothesis additionally fills in as a shared factor among numerous media impacts and theory today. It gives a structure clarifying expert social impacts from broad communications, social support or influence, and transmission of a thought, message, or conviction by method of allegorical displaying (A. Bandura, 1986, p.70). The second hypothesis that will be talked about, examined, looked into to my picked advert all through this paper will be the women's activist hypothesis. Concentrating on, laying out the impacts of an assortment of basic women's activist examinations on the portrayal of ladies in well known media structures. The woman's rights study is a piece of a hypothetical methodology; it’s a real hypothesis equivalent to every single other hypothesis (Hay, 2012). A couple of speculations that will be investigated are â€Å"The magnificence myth† by Naomi Wolf, â€Å"The Women Myth† by Roland Barthes, and â€Å"Women in films† by Laura Mulvey. Wolf asserts that the quality called â€Å"beauty† impartially and all around exists. The best m ethod to battle this scourge, Wolf contends, is to show how what we call â€Å"beautiful† is a social legend that has been surrounded for certain financial and political purposes. â€Å"In doling out an incentive to ladies in a vertical chain of command as indicated by a socially forced physical norm, it is a statement of intensity relations wherein ladies should unnaturally vie for assets that men have appropriated for themselves†(Wolf, N. The Beauty Myth, p.1). Barthes examines â€Å"The ladies myth† as being all over the place, identifying with culture, time, and change. It’s not something were conceived with,it’s something society socially builds (Hay, 2012). He discloses to us that the picture of magnificence â€Å"The talk of the image† (Roland Barthes) changes as per where you are, who you’re with, and what condition your at present in, that would all be able to consider the picture. Last, Mulvey expounds on the male look, â€Å"women in films†.The women’s appearance was made to serve male barrier instruments against emasculation, and depicts ladies as visual items through the media (Hay, 2012) Mul vey contends that film shows the picture of ladies as a specific look, that women's activist find mortifying; because of the component it shows the lack of involvement of ladies, and the animation of men going along the reality ladies will never have lead jobs or be recognized as more noteworthy than men (Hay, 2012). Subsequent to explaining, defining and giving instances of the two speculations, the notice picked will be broke down and assessed through these hypothetical points of view. As far as woman's rights, the advertchosen will valuably console the legends and there hypothetical methodologies. The promotion I picked speaks to, the mixed beverage, SKYY vodka. Thereis a tan, slight ladies, in a swimsuit, with a major chest, lying on the sand at the sea shore attempting to get some sun. The nearby shot of her â€Å"dreamy† chest is probably going to stand out of men, perhaps the pointed crowd for this ad. Mulvey contends about â€Å"the look† or â€Å"the image† the media depicts a woman’s speculative appearance ought to be, generally arranged as youthful and thin (Hay, 2012) which the notice surveys. The force through sexual orientations are utilized to grab the man’s attention, making the man consider the to be as a visual item, otherwise called the male lo ok, driving the male to get stimulated, and in conclusionan proposed impact of persuading the predefined crowd, men, to purchase the item publicized. As Naomi Wolf specifies in â€Å"the magnificence myth† the motivation behind utilizing the ladies as an item is for political and financial reasons. This doesn’t imply that everybody will be affected similarly because of sub-societies, legislative issues, and media, however society’s comprehension of the add will ideally finish up to pretty much, a similar target and cognizant inclination. Notwithstanding the women’s exposed state and fascination, the ad shows the man in a suit remaining on the ladies, most likelyrepresenting possession and force, a requesting authoritywhile coating down on her from above. As per Mulvey, women's activists consider men to be dynamic and the ladies as detached, unmistakably appeared in the advert. The man isn't just catching the ladies between his legs while she lays on the floor, yet heis additionally hindering her from the sun, the explanation she in all probability went to the sea shore in any case. Women's activist contend that ladies are typically introduced in an accommodating manner. As indicated by women's activists, the media has a significant job and characterizes the ladies and how ladies should look, act and speaks to the force battle among people today (Hay, 2012). The hypothesis of Laura Mulvey shows that business savvy, publicizing ladies is typically led in a sexual way relating them to sex things, and overlooking inside qualities by concentrating on just looks(Hay, 2012). Notwithstanding how ladies were depicted in programs, women's activist pundits charged media proprietors and chiefs with sexism (Cantor, 1988). They upheld this case with reports demonstrating across the board oppression ladies in communicate industry business rehearses, as found in the commercial introduced, as the ladies lays underneath the man and is looked at from above with sentiment of intensity. Ladies in promoting are normally tenderly contacting to seeing something, causing it to appear that they are not in charge of that object, that they aren’t the genuine proprietor and experts of it, just participant(Cantor, 1988). In one hand the man is holding a container of SKYY liquor, and in the other hand he is immovably holding 2 cups with regards to which the li quor would be put inside to drink. The contrasts between the situating of the sexes in the advert truly demonstrate the women's activist hypotheses can be identified with this, the manly side of the man and his solid clench hands, and female side of the ladies is appeared through the unwinding of her hands holding her shades up, lying on the floor with her unadulterated magnificence and fertility. In the previous, a ton of time sponsors utilized ladies to

Death Of A Salesmsan Essay Example For Students

Passing Of A Salesmsan Essay An enormous discussion that rotates around the play â€Å"Death of a Salesman† is whether Willy Loman was really a saint or a lowlife in the story. It unquestionably can't be said that he is extremely either in light of the proof that is given all through. At certain occasions he appears the miserable casualty of different people’s activities yet at others he appears to have just himself to fault. Most don’t realize whether to feel frustrated about him or to detest him. In spite of the fact that there is by all accounts proof to help the two thoughts, there is by all accounts all the more pointing toward the last mentioned. Willy’s first flaw focuses around the issue that he had. Perhaps when it initially began he had just expected it to be a business relationship, however it didn’t end up that way. Some place along the line he let it go further and afterward didn’t sever it. Numerous things happened to that one issue, that lone he caused. To start with, is the way that his child, Biff, found him doing it, and was essentially scarred for life from it. It was Willy’s flaw that Biff didn’t go to summer school and, thus, didn’t move on from secondary school. Second, is the way that he was undermining his better half, in this manner being untrustworthy with her. Alongside that, was the manner by which he treated her all the time at home, practically like she was extraordinarily mediocre compared to him. Some portion of it had to do with the way that he was having an unsanctioned romance, which made him embarrassed, the other part was sheer numbness. He felt that he couldn’t face her due to what he was doing despite her good faith. The issue that he made was a huge piece of why Willy couldn't in any way, shape or form be thought of as a saint. The second motivation behind why Willy Loman can't be viewed as a legend was that he fundamentally energized lying. He set the model by doing it without anyone else's help and furthermore by coming right out and telling his young men that occasionally it was alright to. Willy misled his better half about the issue, never really saying that he wasn’t having one, yet never disclosing to her that he was. He additionally misled his entire family about his business. He boasted continually pretty much the entirety of the individuals he knew and the contacts that he had made consistently, as a sales rep. When really, he wasn’t an extraordinary sales rep and had no contacts anyplace. Willy’s ongoing deceiving his family was another of his significant deficiencies. Any man who misleads his family and undermines his better half can positively not be viewed as a saint. Scalawag might be a solid word be that as it may, it fits Willy Loman much better that saint. He appeared as though he need to do directly by his family yet he never appeared to do it, continually missing the mark by one way or another, generally through no one’s deficiency however his own.

The Chrysalids by John Wyndham Essay - 906 Words

The Chrysalids, by John Wyndham is a great novel in my opinion. It occurs in the future but it focuses on prejudices, intolerance and torture, issues that exist now and will always exist as long as we do. I believe the novel has a very important message for readers today. In the novel, The Chrysalids, and in reality presently, many human rights are being violated. First off, child abuse and torture is a major factor in the novel. Secondly, the intolerance towards the women of Waknuk, and how they are treated. Lastly, the deportation of people to other countries around the world, and other areas of Labrador. The first issue that is a major concern in the novel, is the torture and abuse towards David, and other members in the novel.†¦show more content†¦Another human right being abused in the book, is the intolerance towards the opposite sex. The women of Waknuk, are too familiar with this sitution. Women in Waknuk are not aloud to work outside of the home. The men believe their rightful place to be, is in the home. Cooking, cleaning, having childern, and keeping the house is complete order. This exact thing is happening around the world, even in our own communities today, as we speak. But I believe this intolerance is most severe in a country called, Afghanistan. Women in this country cannot attend school, have no right to work, cannot have male doctors only females attending them, and have even been ordered to stay in the home. But if they do choose to go out, they cannot show their faces in public, go outside the house alone, wear certain clothes, or even wear shoes that make a clicking sound. Women can not walk alone even in their own neighbourhood without the fear of being stopped, beaten or detained particularly by the religious police as suspected moral offenders. This is because there are more constraints placed on the behaviour of women than men. For instance they are not allowed to go anywhere, or leave the country without a male guardian or his written consent. Buddhism, The Eightfold Path, Nirvana, And The Wheel Of...

I was born in Nepal, and I lived there for the first twelve years of my life. While there, I went to school and studied Buddhism. I learned about his life and the philosophies he kept and practiced. Also, I learned that he was a great leader with great ideas. Some of these ideas are the Four Noble Truths, the Eightfold path, Nirvana, fundamental wisdoms, the theory of karma and rebirth, the five precepts, and the Wheel of Dharma. These have influenced many people over the past twenty-five centuries. I learned about his great achievement and how he was able to create a whole new religion. Through influencing many people with his unique practices and philosophy, Buddhism has become the fourth largest religion in the world. From living in Nepal and studying Buddhism there, I learned firsthand that he is a great religious leader who left a legacy not just on Nepalese culture, but on the whole world. Buddhism was founded by a man named Siddhartha Gautama. He was born in the fifth century BC, in Nepal, where I was raised. To be more specific he was born in an eminent garden of Lumbini which was soon elevated to a place of pilgrimage. Even then it wasn’t sure that he was really born in Lumbini, it was a traditional belief. No one is sure of the Buddha’s actual birthplace. However, evidence indicates that he was born at Lumbini (Irons). This was proven by the memorial pillars there, which were created by Indian emperor Ashoka in the third century BC. The Effects of Alcohol on the Human Body free essay sample

The effects of Alcohol on the Human Body Name: Institution: Introduction Today, alcohol is one of the most common substances that people abuse. It is an addictive drink that has become a popular way of having a good time or relaxing in social gatherings. It is among the most commonly used psychoactive drugs. Alcohol is a popular social phenomenon, yet most societies forget its effects on their bodies. Research has carried out in the recent years on the effects that alcohol consumption is having on people. The resulting data has been extremely negative. The introduction of Alco pops, led to a substantial increase in the youth population drinking alcoholic beverages. On average, young people start drinking at approximately age thirteen. Parental and peer influences are a major factor in these early habits. Before the legal age of 21; almost seventy percent of people manage to get away with at least one alcoholic drink. This increases the probability of adolescent consumption in the future. Alcohol, specifically ethanol, depresses the central nervous system and it has many side-effects. Cell membranes in the human body have high permeability to alcohol, so alcohol diffuses into nearly every biological tissue of the body once it gets into the blood stream (Dasgupta 2011, pg. 88). It starts affecting the body and mind from the second one sips it. After taking it for a while, one starts feeling more sociable, but drinking too much makes basic human functions like walking or talking harder. One might start saying things they don’t mean and behave out of character. Some of the effects of alcohol disappear overnight, while others stay longer or become permanent. Other effects are impaired judgment, addiction, poor mental health, hormonal change and withdraw as a result of deciding to quit. Alcohol affects most important organs within the human body. Alcohol interacts with the gamma amino butyric acid receptors located in the brain. These receptors are the center of inhibitory neurotransmission in the human body and is synthesized from glutamic acid (Miller 2006, pg. 23). First and foremost, it depresses the brain tissue, the nervous system and destroys brain cells. The problem with destroying brain cells is that, once lost they cannot be regenerated. Excessive drinking over a long period of time may cause severe problems to one’s memory and cognition. Alcohol affects parts of the brain like the cerebral cortex; limbic system; cerebellum and the hypothalamus. The cerebral cortex is the center of voluntary muscle movement and it processes one’s thoughts and senses. Once inhabited by alcohol, it slows down our bodies on reaction time and impairs judgment. This makes an intoxicated person more talkative and confident. Also in the cerebral cortex, alcohol increases the pain threshold. It affects the hippocampus as it impairs memory and causes inflated feelings (Miller 2006, pg. 8). The limbic system controls emotions and memory. Alcoholic effects on the limbic system occur when the intoxicated person endures memory loss and uncontrolled emotional outbursts. The cerebellum controls the body’s muscular movements. When it is affected by alcohol there is involuntary muscle movement and incoordination. The hypothalamus controls the body’s automatic functions and release of hormones. Alcohol affects the hypothalamus through sexual performance and arousal (Brigg 2010, pg. 71). An intoxicated person is more sexually aroused, though the performance is not as normal. The liver can fairly process alcohol safely when the drinking is moderate. Heavy drinking however, overtaxes the liver causing serious damage. A fatty liver is one of the first stages of liver destruction among heavy drinkers. It interferes with oxygen distribution and nutrition of the liver’s cells (Horsley 2008, pg. 94). Persistence of this condition causes the liver cells to die and form fibrous scar tissues. This is the second stage of the deterioration of the liver. Part of the liver cells may regenerate with proper nutrition and abstinence. However during the last stages of deterioration the damage to the liver cells is irreversible. Alcohol abuse is a major contributing factor in cancers, including mouth cancer and liver cancer, which are both on the increase. Alcohol comes second to smoking as risk factors for digestive tract and oral cancers. Research suggests that this happens since alcohol breaks down into a substance called acetaldehyde. This substance then binds to proteins in the mouth triggering an inflammatory response from the body. In severe cases, cancerous cells eventually develop. Alcohol alters the chemistry within the brain and increases depression risk. It is associated with various mental health problems. People suffering from either anxiety or depression are twice likely to be heavy or addicted drinkers. Extreme drinking levels may often cause psychosis. This is a severe mental illness that causes development of hallucinations and delusions of persecution. Psychotic symptoms may also occur when heavy drinkers suddenly decide to stop drinking and as a result develop a condition referred to as ‘delirium tremens’. Moderate drinking does not suppress food intake. It may actually increase appetite. Heavy alcohol consumption has an opposite effect. It causes euphoria, which leads to lack of appetite. As a result, heavy drinkers often eat poorly and get malnourished. Alcohol contains seven calories per gram thus is rich in energy. However, just like fat or pure sugar, these calories lack nutrients. The more calories consumed in alcohol make it hard for the drinker to eat enough food to get enough nutrients. Worse still, alcohol abuse displaces calories from required nutrients and interferes with metabolism of nutrients in the body. This damages the liver, the digestive system and most every bodily organ. Alcohol irritates and disturbs the stomach. Therefore, heavy drinking may easily cause nausea, diarrhea and also sickness. Alcohol also has a dehydrating effect (Newell 2004, pg. 39). This is one reason why heavy drinking may lead to a severe pounding headache the next morning. Hydration also determines the extent of a hangover. After drinking heavily, unconsciousness may occur and extreme consumption levels often lead to alcohol poisoning. Death can also occur in a situation where alcohol concentration within the blood stream is more than the blood. Alcohol may also cause death when there is asphyxiation from vomit (Haven 2001, pg. 3). Drinking too much alcohol is not good for your skin either. It causes dark circles under a person’s eyes and bloating. It also dries out the human skin and may lead to premature aging and wrinkling. Drinking heavily may cause acne rosacea (Taylor 2000, pg. 70). This is a skin disorder which starts with likelihood to blush and flush and eventually progresses to facial disfiguration known as rhinophyma. Conclusion Use of alcohol is a great, enjoyable and safe experience if used moderately and with caution. If one does decide to drink they should drink slowly and responsibly. A drinking person should always consume alcohol with food. A person should drink no more than one drink in an hour. Consuming plenty of water in between drinks is also very important and helpful. Pregnant women should not drink and also one should not drive under any alcoholic influence whatsoever. Mild and moderate alcohol use benefits the coronary system (Newell 2004, pg. 98). Generally, for healthy people, moderate alcohol is considered as one drink a day for women and around less than three drinks a day for men. This is considered the maximum advised amount of alcohol consumption. Healthy people refer to those women who are not pregnant, people who are not addicted to alcohol and without any pre-existing medical conditions. However, the quantity of alcohol safely consumed by an individual is highly personal and dependent on genetics, family history, sex, weight and age (Taylor 2000, pg. 79). References Brigg, J. 2010. The Bridge Project Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

The Bridge Project - Essay Example The Bridge Project Economics We will ensure that the cost is as low as possible by first, limiting the weight to 254.9 or below then use both glue and sticks in reduced quantity. The truss bridge that we managed to design had its cost greatly reduced. It will therefore, require several joints hence will not be much effective. Load Since the higher the load the more successful the structure will be, we managed to make the normal bridge structure withstand the weights easily. We also managed to lower the tensional and compressional force, which will be adjusted by increasing overlaps to the high beams. Aesthetics The more appealing to the eye a bridge is, the more it will be used. We plan to make our bridge very attractive by even introducing advertisement pictures on it. Ease of construction Since we only have a short time for this project, it must be easy to construct. This will allow us to carry out this project with minimal errors. We managed to design a bridge without many complexities but with seve ral parts. This will also enable to build it without much flaws. There were several alternatives that we could choose from based on the sustainability of engineering materials i.e. strength, recyclability and cost effectiveness. However, we had to choose an alternative, which was very economical, simple and strong. The main factor that we had to consider was that the material had to be readily available and be relatively cheap for us to afford. Moreover, it had to be stronger to sustain the expected load. Selection of the Bridge type We settled for the sticks bridge due to its strong nature, simplicity and cost effectiveness. It is less expensive to construct yet can still hold the weight quite well. All the rest were weaker compared to these two. Thus, these two were more sustainable than the rest. Prototype construction We curved the top and the bottom into their maximum heights, directed the beams towards the center, and had the cross section at the middle. It was constructed to meet the minimum requirements for width and height. The weight was set at 140.4 gm. and had load to weight ratio of 105:7. Estimated load capacity This was established by the breaking point of the design’s beam. In addition, it was determined by comparing the previously tested ones with our bridge. Prototype testing We used two beams to place the bridge 29 inches apart. Then added a wooden block on it and hang a chain from it. We then added a bucket below it to add the weights. Prototype performance It managed to hold 32.72 lbs. and broke at the point where the height begun reducing and at the joint right above it. Results The bridge held on to the weight as required but broke when the weight was increased. For the bridge to support more weight we need to add more support beams and change the materials used to construct the bridge. Discussion Shorter distances between the beams that supported the bridge are needed to make the bridge more strong. This will help in distributing the weight evenly on the bridge the beams will increase the load capacity by twice. The chain that was used before needed a change. A stronger chain that can withstand a higher strain is needed. With the extra beams, the bridge is bound to be heavier. Changes are needed in all materials used. The wooden block that was on the other bridge needed a change.

Rhetorical Analysis Assignment Description Essay - 2

Rhetorical Analysis Assignment Description - Essay Example Some people have argued that the events of the September 11 terrorist attack on the US soil had an effect on immigration laws in the country. Thus, the fears expressed by the author in the unchanging number of illegal immigrants in the US are justifiable, if one considers the intention of some of these illegal immigrants. The terrorist attack have made the United States of America to tighten immigration laws as the laws are now stricter than they used to be before the September 11 terrorist attack. Immigrants suspected of having any connection with terrorists would be jailed for about seven days without being charged in the court of law. Prior to the 9/11 terrorist attack, the immigration laws were lenient and the barrier set around immigration has made it difficult to obtain visas to screening process is now more intense than what it used to be before the 9/11 attacks. The fact that the author did not try relate the issue of illegal immigration to the terrorist attack is actually a flaw in his writing as the author did not provide her readers with a good background knowledge on the subject matter. Security officials have realized that they have to do more to combat the problems of terrorism due to the 9/11 attack. The police departments have now improved their services and are now better prepared in the event of another terrorist attack. The police have now been empowered to monitor people’s conversation and survey people’s electronic mails. This was not the case before the terrorist attack as people were left alone to guard their private lives without the fear of being watched. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was also established by the Bush Administration in 2002 to combat terrorism locally. The author’s reference to the Department of Homeland Security as she brings out data about the deportation of 400, 000 immigrants by Federal immigration authorities (Preston) shows the extent at which the author develops logos in the

But he thinks that it was embarrassing. 4. Taemin’s favorite song from Lucifer album is â€Å"Life†, he likes ballad songs and likes listening to it while travelling. 5. During trainee days, the other members used to don’t understand Onew’s jokes. But now, they understand it immediately. 6. Key’s favorite song in Lucifer album is â€Å"electric heart†. 7. There was once that Taemin, Minho, and Jonghyun went bathing together and there Taemin said â€Å"I’m a man†. 8. Taemin always carries a bag containing a lot of sweets around, all with a SHINEE logo attached on it. He will give out these sweets whenever he sees noonas. 9. â€Å"If I meet an alien, I will definitely be scared at first, but after awhile when I get to know it, I will consider how to send it back home.† -Jonghyun 10. Key has a love-hate relationship with horror movies and horror stories, he yearns for them but he is also scared of them, he likes them but he also dislikes them. He lost his composure/image in the cinema many times because of that, he is only able to rent horror movies/dramas to watch at home to continue scaring himself. 11. Onew feels shy about presenting himself to people, and because of it, he did not dare to participate in auditions. When he was a trainee, everyone else seems to be improving everyday, while he seems to be staying stagnant and not improving, that to him is the saddest period of his life up till now. 12. â€Å"When I first saw Taemin, I thought he was really pretty. At that time there was a trainee noona in front of him, and Taemin was even prettier than her†. -Eunhyuk 13. Jonghyun is a very lively student in high school, able to digest English and Korean songs very well. Formed a band, composed music during that time, believes that if you truly like something, it is not difficult to persevere on. 14. Minho’s ideal type just need to be of an average height, must definitely be kind at heart, have long hair, wears dresses frequently. 15. Key is confident that he can be a gourmet chef, nobody can escape his dumplings trap. Our Comments: Onew is a sweet person put into a group of evil people. He deserves some sort of respect as the leader, so we shall spare him any nastiness. He is undeserving of the hatred bestowed upon him by, not only haters, but Shawols and Shinee as well. He has done nothing to deserve this treatment. This poor man needs to catch a break once in a while, and we shall deliver this break. His constant abuse from fellow members must cause him great distress and pain. Yet Shinee doesn’t appreciate him. Or his talents. So, Onew, we, P B, do issue you an apology, on behalf of the human race. P B Scale Appearance: 9.4 Slightly large nose. Good Complexion. Very pronounced apple of the cheeks. Soft jawline, as opposed to most males. Almond shaped, monolid eyes. Overall soft facial features. Definitely not ugly, contrary to popular opinion. Body is proportional for the most part. Fairly toned. Not the best looking for his age, but better than a majority. Talent: 8 Dancing is proficient. Truthfully, Onew has the best singing voice in Shinee. He is a little rough with control, but taking his age into consideration, he is good. Good at everything, but not fantastic at any one thing. Personality: 7.9 Awkward. But adorkable. He tries. Doesn’t succeed very much, but he tries. Gives a valiant effort. Total: 8.4 Jonghyun Basic Bio: Name: Kim Jonghyun Position: Lead Vocalist Birthdate: April 8, 1990 Bloodtype: AB Height: 173 cm. Our Comments: Jonghyun is the devil. He is the Lucifer. His singing is the Lucifer. We overall just despise this man. He’s short, he’s mean, and therefore has a Napoleon complex. He is like the tiny raptor in Jurassic Park that chases them into the laboratory and tries to eat them. He is not the biggest dinosaur on the island, but definitely the most annoying. His singing is God-awful and f*cking horrible (Cussing is never appropriate, but this is a special exception). It’s just bad. During his performance of â€Å"Lonely Night† on Immortal Song 2, we wanted to shoot ourselves in the face. Of course my friend, you will have many a lonely night, and your only solace will be Key. P B Scale Appearance: 3.5 His nose is disgustingly huge. Not only is his nose large, but his nostrils are excessive. His nose is upturned, and you see all of that excessive nostril. And in stark contrast to Onew, his face isonly angles, which is much too harsh. It makes him always look angry. And when he is attempting a smile, or a cheerful expression, it’s creepy. Let’s not forget how short he is. The Peach is taller than him, and she is a 16 year old, half asian girl. So there is no excuse. In short, Jonghyun is the very definition of a troll: Nasty, short and ugly. He hides under bridges. And terrorizes people, like poor Onew. Talent: 5 His vocal control is commendable, though control of his voice is insignificant due to the fact that he sounds like a cat getting raped. We don’t know how many of you people have heard this happen, maybe outside of your house, or to your own cat, but it is offensive. His dancing is average, nothing special. But his eternally angry face makes any attempt at dancing scary. Technically, his ability to control his voice and range would make him about a 7. But the sound of his voice drastically drops the score. Personality: 0 He’s mean. He’s very mean. You shouldn’t treat people the way he treats people. Especially Onew. Onew is his elder, and the leader. Jonghyun should treat him with respect and dignity. But because of his Napoleon complex, he finds the need to belittle and overall, just piss off, Onew. Total: 3.5 Key Basic Bio: Name: Kim Kibum Stage Name: Key Position: Vocal, Rap Birthdate: September 23, 1991 Bloodtype: B Height: 177 cm. Our Comments: Key is flaming. The second most flaming man in the world of Korean Entertainment. Jo Kwon is unsurpassable. There is no way either of them are the least bit straight. Key is one of the many Kim Kibums. However, congrats Key, to this day, you are the only Kim Kibum that has any real effect in the entertainment world. Not to mention the fact that you’re the only one still active in your group. Key in a nutshell is just fabulous. He sings a very good Kesha. He should just keep doing what†¦ Key does. P B Scale Appearance: 9.4 Key looks like a feminine, younger version of Jo Kwon. Almost as if he were  Kwon’s little sister. However, he does have one flaw. His eyebrows are awful. And as a gay man, he should be ashamed. His best assets however, are definitely his cheekbones. Very well pronounced; good genes. His body is in good proportion. Overall, we admit Key is attractive, but very feminine. Talent: 6.2 He’s a better rapper than Minho. Easily. Without any effort. We’re pretty sure everyone on this planet is a better rapper than Minho. However just because he’s better, doesn’t mean he’s fantastic or even remotely good. His singing is subpar. Dancing is passable. His best talent is swaying his hips to â€Å"Abracadabra†; it’s sickenin’. Personality: 8.6 He’s a nag, but who wouldn’t be trapped in a group with 4 kids. He’s in love with Jonghyun, which is obviously some sort of personality defect. Key’s maternal instinct is sensational. Without him, Taemin would probably be dead. Total: 8.06 Minho Basic Bio: Name: Choi Minho Position: Rap, Sub-Vocal Birthdate: December 9, 1991 Bloodtype: B Height: 184 cm. Our Comments: Minho is just futile. He doesn’t really do anything in Shinee, except rap badly. We don’t really see how he’s â€Å"flaming charisma† either. He’s not stunning, or even remotely good looking. He just looks like Rango. Other than the obvious, there is not much to say about Minho. He doesn’t matter, and we’re pretty sure that if he wasn’t in Shinee, it would make no difference. Except for the fact that Onew might finally be in a pairing. Introducing: TaeNew. P B Scale Appearance: 5.5 Minho is basically ugly. Sorry Shawols, it’s the truth. Everything is so long: His arms, his legs, his fingers. It’s just gross. He’s an alien. Not the sexy kind like T.O.P or Bom, but like Kyuhyun. Weirdly elongated, and kind of awkward. Talent: 3 Unlike the other three aliens, Minho has no talent. What Minho does is not rapping. He is talking (and not even fast, which is an excuse for most), with an autotuned voice. There’s a reason people’s voices are autotuned. And Minho is no exception. Shawols, netizens, everyone: You all really have to stop praising his rapping. For the sake of Minho, if you really care about him. Pretty soon he’s going to start believing your lies. We weep for Minho; we really do. All the pitiful guy has is his â€Å"rapping†, and truth is, it’s awful. Guess this means he has nothing. Personality: 1.9 His personality is nonexistent. There’s nothing really special about him. He’s good with kids, so I guess that’s a plus? We don’t know. He’s just plain vanilla. Total: 3.4 Taemin Basic Bio: Name: Lee Taemin Position: Lead Dancer, Maknae Birthdate: July 18, 1993 Bloodtype: B Height: 175 cm. Our Comments: Taemin is a cute little girl. And if you like him, and are older than him, you have pedophilia. He†¦is kind of a she. But a cute she. Taemin just shoots out estrogen. There’s not one testosterone producing cell in his body. It’s not his fault, and we are not bad mouthing it; it’s a medical condition after all. He’s really innocent and naive. His love for banana milk (which is delicious!), ice cream and â€Å"Lasco*†say it all. If you looked up â€Å"Perfect Maknae† in the dictionary, you’d find Taemin. He’s  cute, young, respectfuland knows how to use his â€Å"aegyo*† effectively. Too bad Shinee doesn’t appreciate his efforts. It seems all they do is bully him, when they’re not harassing Onew. Don’t worry Taemin, we know tons of groups that would want you all to themselves. P B Scale Appearance: 8.7 Taemin is the prettiest little girl in K-Pop. He has a cute nose. His features are very soft and round, and make his face look very feminine. It’s not his fault his face looks this way, but it’s his hairstylist’s fault he looks even more feminine than he should. His only flaw as â€Å"the perfect maknae† is that he’s a bit too tall. But his fans like that, so it’s okay. Talent: SC 9.2 He is a dancer. He’s not one of the absolute greatest, but definitely one of the best for his age. Over the years, Taemin has improved, and we hope he will continue to build his abilities. Personality: 7.9 The perfect maknae personality. He’s adorable, childish and you just want to be maternal towards him. Key cannot be blamed. Total: 8.6 Overall Shinee: 6.4 Shinee to us just seems like a TVXQ replacement. But a bad knock-off. Like a Chinese pikachu doll. Not successful and it’s just wrong. They’re too young. They had it way too easy.  Unlike their predecessors, they did not have to share a 1,000 square foot apartment with 20 other men. They did not starve and were not forced to sleep on the floor because of the lack of beds. They endured nothing, have felt no pain, and this has just created a spoiled group (Which is why they abuse Onew). Their souls and dreams were not broken by the iron fist that is SM Entertainment. They were not made thankful for their presence in the world of K-Pop. Because Shinee did not have to go through half a decade of intense, bone-crushing training, they don’t appreciate how easy their path to stardom has been. Shinee is given catchy songs by the maker of all catchy songs, and this explains their popularity. Without SM’s vast resources, they would be nothing more than the average, unpopular boyband.

Should Science be Boundless? Essay -- Argumentative Persuasive Papers

Should Science be Boundless? Imagine a world with no limits or boundaries. Would life be chaotic and outrageously out of control or would people know how to control themselves? The human race has proved to us several times for a necessity to have rules to live by and guidelines to follow. Each day people are pressing to go beyond the boundaries, which limit their actions. One of the best examples are scientific people who are driven to make discoveries each day, month or year. Some scientists are driven with ambition and try to go beyond the limits. We need our government to control these scientists. In Mary Shelly's "Frankenstein," we see an example of how a scientist, who was not given any restrictions, created a monster and was fearful of his own invention. In the article "Biotech Century: Playing Ecological Roulette with Mother Nature's Designs," Jeremy Rifkin presents reasons why some scientists need to be given boundaries. Even hundreds of years ago people were toying with the ideas of recreating matter. In Mary Shelly's book Frankenstein she creates a character named Victor Frankenstein. Although the story is fictional, Mary Shelley presents a realistic image of one man's idea to create an inanimate object. Back in the 1800s the story was fictional, and was filled with scientific inquires which seemed at that time, nearly impossible for a human to accomplish. Today people are making their dreams a reality by having the freedom to experiment and discover whatever they want. The problem scientists could face is being unable to control the results of their discoveries. Just like the story of Frankenstein, scientists are driven to discover the "what if" questions. For example in our society, scientists are driven to d... ...turn, more chemicals sprayed on food, effects the consumer who buys the fruit or vegetables. These are the reasons why our scientists are genetically engineering plant life. We live in a world where scientific discoveries are surfacing each day.We need to accept the discoveries and support the ones which were not successful. Scientists need to be given some sort of restrictions in regards to everything in life, which would be a necessity for an individual to live. Naturally the world of science means a world of curiosity and adventures. Our government needs to step in and control the scientists' actions. Works Cited Rifkin, Jeremy. Words That Wound

Brian Kobel Take Home Quiz Lynn Classon English 1510 1The essay â€Å"Words that Wound† by Kathleen Vail shows how bullying effects today’s youth. The essay shows how tragic bullying can be on kids, and how it has lead to suicide and even accidental murder. I think that bullying can lead to such tragedies, but at the same time, bullying is just a part of life. I feel that bullying toughens up kids, and gets them ready to deal with people in the real world, and if they cannot handle the bullying, I feel they won’t make it in the real world. You have to ignore kids giving you a hard time, and know you won’t be around them for the rest of your life. 2The essay shows the influences bullying has on kids by telling stories of tragic stories that have led to young kids committing suicide or even being murdered. â€Å"Death was the only relief he could imagine† William Head said after his son committed suicide because he was bullied. This should definitely r aise bully-awareness. No kid should ever feel so poorly about themselves that they feel the only way out is taking their own life.Someone should step in the way if the bullying is going that far. 3But, for the most part, bullying is a part of life. I was bullied in school, my roommate was bullied, my little brother was bullied, and my older cousin was bullied. At one time or another, every kid gets bullied. It is part of human nature to try and feel dominant. †They feel it’s a normal part of growing up, that it’s character-building. † Head also said about the school board. Being bullied, unfortunately, a normal part of growing up, but you need to experience it, and learn how to react to it.Bullying really is character building. 4Kids need to learn how to handle bullying so that they can deal with people in the real world. People push you around just as much in the real world as they do in school. â€Å"It’s your problem—you need to learn how to deal with it yourself† The supervisor of the school said on the issue. I agree with the quote completely. You need to learn how to deal with your problems, not have someone else take care of it. Mommy and daddy won’t be there at work, they won’t be there at college.Learning how to stick up for yourself is a huge life lesson. 5In the essay â€Å"Words that Wound† by Kathleen Vail, the author showed how bullying can effect kids in a negative way. It showed how bullying leads to kids committing suicide or even dying. It did not really touch on what bullying teaches kids. With dealing with bullies, kids also learn to stick up for themselves. Which in the end I feel is a much better experience to have in the long run.

Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde Analysis - 1467 Words

â€Å"Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde† by Robert Louis Stevenson and â€Å"Goblin Market† by Christina Rossetti are two interesting stories that would show how authors are able to outline good and evil in stories. The first story I consider a mystery as Stevenson leaves his reader in suspense of who really is Mr. Hyde, and what relationship does he have with Dr. Jekyll. And to help the reader solve this mystery was an interesting character by the name Mr. Utterson, who is a Lawyer by profession. Thus, in his quest to solve the mystery, the reader comes to know that Mr. Hyde is the same person as Dr. Jekyll, a second character that embodies pure evil. For Dr. Jekyll said in his statement of the case â€Å"I knew myself, at the breath of this new life, to be more†¦show more content†¦She perceived that they were bad and did not have good intentions because she said to her sister â€Å"We must not buy their fruits† (Stanza 2); â€Å"their evil gifts would harm us † (Stanza 3). Humans have an instinct to sense when something means harm or danger or is out rightly evil. This instinct is marked by a sense of uneasiness, worry and resentment towards the person or objects that embodies the aura of badness. Therefore, it is appropriate that the authors used this human ability of perceiving that which is bad to represent evil both stories. To further represent evil as Mr. Hyde, Stevenson., created the physical appearance of Hyde to appear as ugly in the mind of his readers. He first describes Mr. Hyde’s appearance through the words of Mr. Enfield as â€Å"†¦something displeasing, something down-right detestable† (Story of the door). In the chapter â€Å"Search for Mr. Hyde,† his face according to Mr. Utterson, looks like one â€Å"without bowel of mercy† and that which had â€Å"†¦Satan’s signature†¦Ã¢â‚¬ written on it. In addition, the maid mentioned earlier said that he was â€Å"†¦particularly wicked-looking† (The Carew Murder Case). The reader can understand that the author really wanted Hyde to represent that which is evil, and that is why Stevenson, uses words that denotes badness to describe him. Another representation of evil lies in the action and qualities of both the Goblin and Mr. Hyde.
